Nonprofits

There are several nonprofits who are concerned with transbasin water diversions and river health.  Below I have listed a few.  Click on their logo to be directed to their website. The Colorado Water Trust is a private, non-profit organization that engages in and supports voluntary efforts to restore and protect streamflows in Colorado to sustain healthy aquatic ecosystems.  These efforts include water acquisitions, other creative transfers of water, on-the-ground physical solutions, and providing technical assistance to land trusts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Colorado Headwaters Land Trust is the only land trust operating in Grand County.  Their mission is to preserve and steward open lands within the headwaters of the Colorado River for vistas, wildlife, agriculture and water, in partnership with landowners and for the benefit of all.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The mission of the Grand County Water Information Network is to coordinate, manage and consolidate the comprehensive water quality monitoring, information and educational programs in Grand County, Colorado.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Colorado Headwaters Chapter of Trout Unlimited is the best information for current stream health information in Grand County.  Their goal is to have fun fishing and to work to ensure that our cold water fisheries survive and propser for future generations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Save the Colorado's mission is to protect and restore the Colorado River and its tributaries from the source to the sea.  Save the Colorado has thousands of supporters from throughout the Southwest U.S. from Denver to Los Angeles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

American Rivers protects wild rivers, restores damaged rivers, and conserves clean water for people and nature.  Since 1973, American Rivers has protected and restored more than 150,000 miles of rivers through advocacy efforts, on-the-ground projects, and the annual America's Most Endangered Rivers campaign.
